Born and raised in Southern Ontario, I married my "High School Sweetheart" in 1976 and am still happily married to the same wonderful woman (Susan) to this day. How's THAT for commitment? We have 2 grown daughters (Both Mission School system graduates) and our elder daughter has blessed us with 2 wonderful grandsons. We've been Mission residents for the last 21 years.
I have been employed in the "Office Automation" industry since 1976. Having gone through the many transformations of that industry since then until ultimately arriving at where I am now, running my own IT Company (Aplus Network Solutions) that markets, installs, maintains and services networks and computers to mostly small and home based offices.
I have attained a wide variety of skills and experience from my vast business experience combined with my extensive community involvement that will be of definite value in the role of District of Mission Councillor.
I am a dedicated Rotarian and model my life by their "4 Way Test"
Of the things we think, say or do
Is it the TRUTH?
Is it FAIR to all concerned?
Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
In November 1989 Susan and I took our 2 daughters and moved to BC staying with relatives in North Vancouver until I found employment and we got settled.
Gaining employment within 2 weeks of arriving in BC as a branch office Service Manager of a large Multi-national Copier Manufacturer, we decided it was time to move out of the in-law's basement. So the "House Hunting" started during the Christmas season. It was a wonderful time to discover our new home. Fanning out from N.Van we drove all over the Southern Coast of BC to areas that fit our budget. At that time we were trying to keep it under $100k, and a reasonable commute to the Burnaby office and had resigned ourselves to a condo.
One Saturday we were out driving in Maple Ridge and someone had mentioned that if we were going to go that far, might as well look at Mission which is only another 20 minutes down the road. So we figured why not?
The first thing we experienced was the perfume of freshly cut cedar when coming into Mission, followed closely with the visual beauty of Silvermere Lake. This reminded us of Northern Ontario, an area we loved while growing up, and where we almost moved to instead of BC.
We drove on into town, fell in love with Mission, bought a detached home for $98k, (Ahhhh remember when), and have been in the same house ever since.
We ♥ Mission!
Help me be "Eco-Friendly" and please share this site with someone you know that has the same values and wants to help to insure there will be a "Committed, Responsible and Honest Mission Councillor!"
